Welcome to the Globe Bookgroup blog! Here, members of the group can post messages about past and present books, and catch up with other members. The Globe Bookgroup meets around every 4-5 weeks on a Thursday night in The Globe pub, Baker Street. We get very excited about choosing and voting for our books. We don't do organised discussions or heavy hardbacks.

TheManWhoFellAsleep says...

Victoria emailed themanwhofellasleep with our feedback and queries and this is what he said:

"I'm very pleased the book went down so well at your bookclub. I was also nervous, although probably not as nervous as you were. It was very brave of you - if they thought it was shit, they'd have slaughtered you.I'm surprised that the girls didn't like the lack of narrative. But I suppose their minds have been ruined by chick-lit.

As far as I know, the book has always been on sale in normal bookshops, but it seems a bit hit and miss - some places have it and some don't. The sales have improved a bit since the Lauren Laverne show, but not astronomically. I suspect it's the kind of book that will spread slowly by word of mouth...As for Julie Burchill... I emailed her ages ago about something on my website and we kept in touch. When I was in Brighton, she took me to dinner and offered to write a foreward if I ever did a book."
